Online Safety Tips

Here are some tips for having a safe and enjoyable online experience!

Online Safety Tips

  • Never give out your password!  Smeet Team employees will never ask you for your password for any reason!

  • Keep your personal information private!  Only share personal information with people you know and trust, and remember that online it’s easy for people to pretend to be someone else.

  • Use the ‘Block User’ function for anyone that is bothering you or making you feel uncomfortable.  If someone was bothering you in real life, you’d ignore them, and online is no different!  Users who are blocked will not be able to interact with you!

  • Only upload pictures that you’re okay with sharing.  Remember, once something is uploaded online, there is the potential for millions of people to see it!

  • Don’t click links from unknown people.  Sometimes a link will ask you to download a file, and this might cause your computer to get a virus.

  • If you decide to meet someone, bring a friend and meet in a public place!  If you feel uncomfortable, go with your gut instinct.  It’s always better to be safe.

  • If you’re a teen, talk to your parent or guardian before uploading photos, sharing any personal information with people online, or meeting someone.  Your parent or guardian has your back!

  • Always remember to view information online with a critical eye.  Just because you see something online, or because someone says something doesn’t mean it has to be true.
